Non-NVMTA members have to pay the $50 fee (per student per event) plus registration fee. All fees are nonrefundable. Non-member fees can be paid HERE. One payment per studio should be made for this event by the teacher at this link: PAYMENT Your competition certificates will be available for digital download. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Fill out the Online Form (https://forms.gle/aui5sW4eZiv36ZHc6) All entries will require: Contact information for the teacher and composer PDF of the score Header to include Title, Age & Years of Study Do not include the composer's name on the PDF Multi-instrument compositions require a cover page listing the instrumentation Audio recording of the composition (MP3 or MP4) No video recordings please One paragraph artist's statement If you choose to submit your entry manually: Fill out the application. Submit a PDF of the score to nvmtacomposition@gmail.com. The PDF should include the title of the piece, composer's age and number of years of study. The composer's name must not appear on the manuscript. Submit a digital file (mp3 or mp4) of the composition to nvmtacomposition@gmail.com. Label the entry with the title of the composition only. WE ARE SUPPORTED BY Location Columbia Baptist Church, 103 W. Columbia St., Falls Church, VA 22046 (for Festival, Competition, and Honor's Recital) Eligibility Festival Open to pre-college students grades K through 12, and adults. Competition Open to pre-college students grades K through 12. A student who is chosen for the Honors Recital one year cannot participate in the Competition the next year. The student may participate in the Festival and then return to the competition the following year. Students who are not present and ready to perform at their assigned time may play for comments only, and only if time permits. Application Requirements Please register at new.mtfest.com. Pay fee online through new.mtfest.com. Click on Billing, then click on the $ next to the event. Pay with Visa or Mastercard. After payment is made, you may print a copy of the invoice for your records. No late applications will be accepted. Levels and Time Limits Repertoire Requirements To confirm that the chosen composer meets the requirement as a Baroque composer, refer to this MTNA Composer Classification List. Festival Piano: Format: In-person. Students play the first round in recital format. Judges write critiques. Repertoire: Play 2 pieces, one by J. S. Bach and a second piece by J. S. Bach or another Baroque composer. Any piece with a BWV number, including transcriptions, and all pieces in the Anna Magdalena Bach Notebook, is acceptable as the first piece.
