DESCRIPTION:Application Deadline\nFebruary 12\, 2026 \nLocation\nUnited Christian Parish: 11508 N Shore Dr\, Reston\, VA 20190 \nApplication Requirements\n1.  Please register Grades K-3 at new.mtfest.com \n2.  Pay fee online through new.mtfest.com.  Click on Billing\, then click on the $ next to the event.  Pay with Visa or Mastercard.  After payment is made\, you may print a copy of the invoice for your records.  You do not need to mail anything to the Chair.  No late applications will be accepted.  All fees are non-refundable. \n3. Non-NVMTA members have to pay the $50 fee (per student per event) plus registration fee. Non-member fees can be paid HERE. \n PLEASE NOTE:  If you enter students in grades K-3 AND grades 4-12\, you must pay separately for each event.\nLevels and Time Limits\n\n\n\n\n	Grades K-15 minutes\n\n\n	Grades 2-35 minutes\n\n\n\n\nIn case there are fewer than 6 students registered in the K-1 Level and/or the 2-3 Level\, the grouping criteria shall be one mixed level of K-3.” \nRepertoire Requirements\nStudents may play only one movement. Students who play the same concerto for more than one year may not repeat the same movement.  Music must be performed from memory.  Entrant will abide by all copyright laws and has permission to use all music given to judges and accompanists during all events as outlined here. \nThe cadenza is optional. If you wish it to be heard: \n\nDouble-check your time limit listed above\nTime the cadenza\nTime the movement\nMake a cut that allows time for the cadenza\nMark it clearly for the judges to follow\, i.e. “cut to cadenza”\nPut in a tab (if necessary) to mark the cadenza for the judges to find\n\nHere is a list of repertoire used in 2014 which you may  download  as a spreadsheet for your reference:  Repertoire for Piano Concerto Festival 2014 \nEligibility\nStudents who play in the Concerto Competition in January may not play in the Piano Concerto Festival.  Students must play at current school grade.  First place winners in grades 4-5\, 6-7\, and 8-9 may not compete again at the same level.  First place winners in grades K-3 and 10-12 must withdraw from the competition for 1 year before competing again at the same level. \nAwards\nAll participants receive written comments and certificates. Winners receive ribbons. \nTeacher Guidelines\nAll participating teachers will be required to monitor a minimum of 1 session and should expect to contribute goods or services when asked. \nStudents must bring 2 judging sheets downloaded from new.mtfest.com which are available after the schedule is published.  Students must provide one published score with all measures numbered\, and which must not bear the student’s or teacher’s name. \nStudents should be prepared to play 20-30 minutes before their scheduled time.  Students must provide their own accompanist.  Teachers may accompany their own students. \nThe festival is in recital format. \nTeachers must agree to abide by the Teacher Responsibilities.

SUMMARY:Spring Festival (NFMC)
DESCRIPTION:Location\nLuther Jackson Middle School\, 3020 Gallows Rd\, Falls Church\, VA 22042 \nDates\nFriday March 13th and Saturday March 14\, 2026 \n\nEvent Details\n\nWelcome to NVMTA’s largest\, most inclusive event.  The Falls Church Spring Festival is an annual\, non-competitive event that provides students of all levels an opportunity to perform and receive constructive feedback. Each student will receive a written evaluation and a certificate of participation. Students will accumulate points based on their individual ratings that go towards trophy awards.  These points are registered in a national database and can apply to Federation Festivals nationwide. \nOur festival includes piano\, vocal\, strings\, and theory events. Events include solo\, duet\, and concerto formats. Theory is a written exam. Other woodwind family instruments may be included if minimum registration numbers are met. \nFees\nStudent fees: $25.00 per student\, per event. Registration fees must be paid by January 15\, 2026. \n\nPlease note:  In order to register students\, the teacher must federate their studio as a Junior Club with the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs by October 20\, 2025.  The Junior Club dues are $35 for up to 16 students\, +$1 for each additional student. After October 20\, 2025\, a late fee of $25 will apply. The VFMC State Treasurer will NOT accept Junior Club dues postmarked after November 14\, 2025.\nNVMTA membership must be up-to-date. Non-NVMTA members must submit Senior Individual dues along with Junior Club dues.\n\nRegistration\nRegistration period: October 15\, 2025 – December 15\, 2025. \nRegistration will be on the Vivace system on the NFMC website.  If you are new to our Festival\, please contact us at chair@novafestival.org so that we can set up your account. \nRepertoire Requirements\nMost events require two memorized pieces\, a Required Piece and a Choice Piece. Memorization is not required for adults. \nThe Required Piece must be chosen from the 2024-2028 Federation Festivals Bulletin.  These are pieces by contemporary American composers. \nThe Choice Piece must be by a non-American composer for all students at the Elementary 1 level and above.  Primary level students may choose a piece by either an American or non-American composer. However\, the Choice Piece must not be listed in the current Festivals Bulletin. \nFull repertoire requirements and guidelines can be found in the 2024-2028 Federation Festivals Bulletin available for purchase from NFMC at:  www.nfmc-music.org/order-federation-festivals-bulletin/. \n\n\nTeacher Guidelines\n\nTeachers with registered students are required be available on the dates of the Spring Festival to act as judges or fulfill other work assignments. \nAll teachers are expected to read and agree to follow the terms listed in the Falls Church Spring Festival Teacher Manual.  Available upon request. \n\nQuestions?\nContact chair@novaspfestival.org for further information.

Selections must include at least two languages\, one of which is English. At least one selection must be an art song \nComments Only:  Two or three contrasting selections of varying styles\, including one in a foreign language.  \nMusic must be performed from memory\, except for oratorio selections. In Level 3\, music must be performed in the original language; in the case of opera and oratorio\, in the original key. \nFor questions about repertoire\, please contact the Chair or Co-Chair. \nEligibility\nPrevious first-place winners may not compete again in the same level.  Singers under professional management are not eligible. Students must be taught lessons in person in Northern Virginia. \nTeacher Guidelines\nSingers must bring their own accompanists.
